Julia Boersma (1985)

Digitale beeldend kunstenaar

In the world of Julia Boersma nothing is as it seems. Images of twisted bodies, strange shapes and forms question our perception of reality. In particulair the biological context of human beings and it's implications.

Julia boersma’s own world started on july 15th 1985 in Hilversum but her artistic world more or less started in 2007 when she started studying Fine Art at the HKU in Utrecht, but decided to switch to the ArtEZ in Arnhem because it suited her better. There her fascination for Biology in all kinds of forms and shapes manifested into full form. Driven and fueled by an interest in evolution and biology in general, she is inspired bij people like Charles Darwin, Daniel Dennett and David Attenborough. She creates a new world within the world of perception. Boersma graduated in 2011 with a bachelors degree in Fine Art.

Her curriculum is rapidly growing. Starting out in 2007 with a Self portrait exhibition at the “I Love Hillywood” festival, Boersma took part of the group exhibitions of BibliOphelia (work inspired by the tragic death of Shakespeare’s Ophelia) in 2009. Boersma’s 3d Anaglyph’s could be seen at Nachtkerk and she was part of the Essent’s “Spoorzicht” in 2010. 2011 is Boersma’s graduating year and it also included a 4 day exhibition at the Saatchi Art Paris exhibition, a benefit exhibition at Gallery “De Buytenseal”, an exam exhibition, a Young professionals exhibition in Arnhem and she is also curating within a new project called “Perron 026” which is an half year art project in an abandoned part of the railway station in Arnhem. She has self published a book called “The Visual Hypotheses” in 2009.

She currently works and lives in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
