The constant struggle of remembering your true face

Nadine Spronk / The constant struggle of remembering your true face

This painting has a childish simplicity. It was painted in a night, where especially the playing was highly regarded. But perhaps also allowing unfinished lines, and not opaque colours. What emerged was a face in the base, the original. My face as I often can not see it myself. Strangely enough, the self-portrait is striking. Or not so crazy, when you consider that playing and acceptance are the main words for allowing your original self.
